Are foreign nationals permitted to own real property in Russia?
Yes. Foreign nationals may freely acquire apartments, houses and most categories of land. Border zones, agricultural land and seaport-adjacent parcels carry additional procedures, which we screen for prior to commitment. What residence-presence is required during the temporary residency?
The working rule is that no more than 6 months — 180 days — be spent outside the Russian Federation in any calendar year. There is no obligation to be perpetually present; only an obligation not to be absent excessively.
Is there a minimum income or asset threshold?
There is no fixed bank-balance requirement. The applicant must be able to demonstrate sufficient means to support the household for the first year. Pensions, remote income, savings and business revenue all qualify.
May I apply with my spouse and children?
Yes. Spouses and minor children apply alongside the principal applicant under Decree 702. Adult children and parents are accommodated through related family-reunification routes.
Must I renounce my present nationality?
No. Russia does not require renunciation. The recognition of dual nationality remains a matter for your home jurisdiction.
